How do I accept mobile wallets like STC Pay on my website?

Are mobile wallets worth adding? How to accept STC Pay and similar wallets through a payment gateway, and what to confirm first.

Customers trust the apps already on their phone. A wallet button such as STC Pay can reduce the number of steps to pay and appeals to people who prefer not to type a card number.

But every extra method also means more testing and more reconciliation. Add wallets that your real customers ask for, not every option you see on a gateway's page.

Wallets are worth adding when your customers already use them daily. The simplest way is to enable them inside your payment gateway, rather than integrating each wallet separately.

Which wallets matter in your market

In Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, customers commonly use mada cards, Apple Pay, and STC Pay. Availability differs by gateway and by country, so confirm it with the provider.

Ask yourself where your sales come from. If you sell through Instagram or WhatsApp to a young audience, wallets matter more than for a B2B service that pays by bank transfer.

Two ways to accept wallets

You can reach wallets through one of two routes:

  • Through a gateway: the gateway lists STC Pay or other wallets in its checkout and settles everything to one account. This is usually simplest.
  • Direct integration: you contract with the wallet provider and manage separate credentials and reports. It is more work and rarely needed for small stores.

Setting it up

Enable the wallet in your gateway dashboard, then confirm any extra approval it requires. In Uttra you can describe the result you want: “On the checkout page, show payment options for mada cards, Apple Pay and STC Pay from my gateway, with the card option selected by default.”

Store keys in the project's secrets, test each method in the sandbox if one exists, and finish with one small live payment per method.

What to check before enabling

Read the provider's current terms for each wallet, because fees, limits and settlement times can differ from cards.

  • Minimum and maximum transaction amounts.
  • How refunds work for wallet payments.
  • How long settlement takes to reach your bank account.
  • Whether the customer is redirected away from your site to pay.

Common questions

No. Start with the methods your customers already use, then add more if people ask.

Yes. Ask in chat to add the payment method, preview the checkout, and publish when it works.

Usually, but the process depends on the provider. Read the refund terms first.

For some audiences yes, but it brings failed deliveries and handling costs. Compare it with online payment for your own orders.
