A job board connects employers who need people with candidates who are looking. General boards are crowded, so the winning move is a niche: a city, an industry or a type of work, such as nurses in the Gulf, remote design or hospitality shifts.
The software is the easy part. A board only works when it has real jobs on day one, so plan to seed it before you tell anyone about it.
Pick one niche, ask Uttra for listings with search and filters, an apply flow and an employer dashboard, add the first 20 jobs yourself, and publish on your own domain.
Choose your niche and your model
Decide who posts and who pays before you design anything.
- Niche: one region and one field beats "all jobs everywhere".
- Income: employers pay per posting, or a featured listing, or you keep it free and sell newsletter sponsorship.
- Applications: candidates apply by form with a CV upload, or you redirect to the employer's own page.
Write the prompt
Spell out the three groups of users: visitors, candidates and employers.
- "Build a job board for restaurant and hotel jobs in Dubai. Homepage with search by keyword and filters for city, job type and salary range. Job detail page with an Apply button that opens a form with name, email, phone and CV upload. Employer area where a company signs up, posts a job, edits it, closes it and sees applicants. Admin page where I approve new listings. Show the date posted. Mobile-first design in English and Arabic."
Check the flow end to end
In the preview, post a job as an employer, approve it as admin, find it using the filters, and apply as a candidate. Confirm the employer sees the application. Test on a phone, since most job seekers search from one.
Refine by chat: "add a remote tag", "show salary as a range", "expire listings after 30 days".
Fair and legal basics
Job ads should not discriminate unfairly, and local rules differ: in some Gulf countries nationalization programmes affect hiring, so let employers state requirements clearly and neutrally. Collect only the data you need from candidates, explain how it is used, and let them request deletion.
This is general guidance, not legal advice; check the rules in your market.
Publish and fill it
Publish on your own domain, then add the first 20 real jobs by contacting employers directly. Offer the first postings free in return for feedback.
Later add email alerts for saved searches, company profile pages and a short blog with CV tips, which also brings search traffic.
