Selling knowledge online is attractive, but marketplaces take a cut and control your students. Your own platform keeps the brand, the pricing and the customer relationship in your hands.
This guide walks through building a course site with Uttra: what to ask for, how to test it as a student, and what to improve after launch.
A course platform needs a catalogue, a page per course, lessons with video, student accounts with progress and a way to pay. Describe all four in chat, test the student journey end to end, then publish on your own domain.
Plan the student journey
Think of one student, from first click to finished course. Every step needs a screen.
- Landing page and course catalogue with price, level and duration.
- Course page: outline, instructor, preview lesson, reviews, buy button.
- Sign-up and login, then a "My courses" page with progress.
- Lesson page: video, notes, downloadable files, a next-lesson button.
The prompt
Be specific about structure and language. If your students speak Arabic, ask for RTL from the start. Example prompt:
- "Build an online course platform in Arabic with RTL and English. Home page with featured courses, course catalogue with category filters, a course page with curriculum, instructor bio, a free preview lesson and a Buy button. Student accounts, a My Courses dashboard with a progress bar, and a lesson page with an embedded video, notes and mark-as-complete. An admin area to add courses and lessons. Add 3 sample courses with prices in SAR."
Test as a student, then as the teacher
In the preview, register a fresh account, open a course, watch a lesson and mark it complete. Confirm progress updates and that paid lessons are locked until purchase.
Then switch to the admin side: add a course, reorder the lessons and edit a price. Ask for any missing screen in chat.
- Your videos can be hosted on a video service and embedded; paste the links in lessons.
- Check the whole flow on a phone, since many students learn on one.
- Payments need a payment provider account that you hold; connect it using your own keys.
Publish and improve
Publish on an Uttra subdomain to test with a few friendly students, then connect your own domain. Collect their complaints before you advertise.
Next ideas: completion certificates, a discount code field, a free lead-magnet mini-course for sign-ups, and an English version for wider reach. Download or sync the code to GitHub so you always own it.
